Westworld – New extended teaser trailer released for HBO’s upcoming sci-fi psychological thriller
Westworld is a new HBO original series inspired by the 1973 film of the same title written and directed by Michael Crichton about a futuristic theme park populated by artificial beings. It is described by HBO as ‘a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. Set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, it explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.’
Having undergone production delays due to the massive undertaking of filming the epic genre-crossing series, it is back on track with a fall air date. In the original, the film is about a theme park showcasing three sections, a Medieval World, Roman World, and Western World and showcases what happens when the parks robots take over and start killing visitors. The adaptation seems to be an entirely new take on the original story. Told from the POV of the A.I. in the new series, the park visitors do not seem to be the primary focus of the story as in the source material. Watch for yourself as the teaser delves into a mind-bending sci-fi meets period drama meets action-adventure, with elements of the philosophical and psychological.
