Spike network have released an official trailer for their upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s The Mist. Adapted from the Stephen King novella of the same name, The Mist has been reimagined for the small screen. The series will consist of 10 episodes and is slated to debut this summer. It’s too soon to know how closely the series will follow the source material, however based on the new footage offered in the trailer and the use of the term “reimagined”, it’s safe to assume that the creators have made some interesting creative choices and are set ti deliver a what looks to be a compelling psychological horror with a unique and unsettling atmosphere. The official synopsis reads as follows:

When the residents of Bridgeville, Maine find themselves engulfed by a foreboding mist containing a myriad of inexplicable and bizarre threats, their humanity is put to the test. The Mist centers around a small town family that is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world, and in some cases, each other. Family, friends and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of society break down.
