Thor: Ragnarok gets a new logo and footage at San Diego Comic-Con
Comic-Con 2016 has been a blast for all the Marvel Cinematic Universe fans out there as a flood of news has been pouring out from Hall H. In this article, we will be discussing the news released for the next chapter in Thor’s tale – Thor: Ragnarok. The brand new logo of which can be seen as the feature image for this article.
Despite the principle photography only beginning on the 4th of July, Marvel have more than enough footage to share with the good people of Hall H, and just like the footage for Spider-Man: Homecoming, we wouldn’t think that the clip seen over at Comic-Con will officially make its way online anytime soon. We do, however, have you covered; we will provide a full description for the scenes shown so you aren’t missing out too much. Don’t say we never do anything for you.
Now, this footage is only a sizzle reel that is made up for scenes shot over the first five days of filming, but hey, it’s better than nothing, and reveals a healthy portion of information that we didn’t have before. First up in the clip we see Thor and Loki together but no real information about what is going on between them. After a number of quick shots of those two, we are shown a range of concept art, with Loki donning a brand new costume, as well as more quick shots of Asgard.
You will have no doubt heard that Bruce Banner will be making an appearance in Thor: Ragnarok. Well, he most certainly does, and what we see of him here is enticing. Gladiator Hulk! Fans will remember Gladiator Hulk from the popular Planet Hulk story, a storyline long rumoured to have an inclusion within the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). While the shot is unfinished, still in a piece of CGI test footage, we do get a glimpse of the Hulk charging towards Thor, with the Hulk fully equipped in his helmet, weapon, and gauntlet (an image of which can be seen below).
The clip finishes with scenes of two villains, one of which has been known to make an appearance for some time now. Hela, played by the wonderful Cate Blanchett, appears in a shot immersed in green; while Hulk jumps, roaring, descending into fire, ready to throw down! Out comes a face, screaming louder than the Hulk ever could. Surtur – Fire demon of Muspelheim. We’re excited.
Finally, we promised you an image of the Hulk’s Gladiator attire, and here it is, courtesy of AgentM via Instagram:
The film features Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as Thor, Tom Hiddleson as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall, and Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin. Joining them is Mark Ruffalo reprising his role as Bruce Banner / The Hulk from his previous appearances in the MCU; and for the first time: Cate Blanchett as Hela, Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and Karl Urban as Skurge.
