The Shannara Chronicles Season 2 premiere has been granted a release date. Season 2 will begin on October 11th and – like Season 1 – will consist of 10 episodes. The new season will air on Spike, not MTV, following a surprising shift in networks for the Terry Brooks fantasy show.

Season 2 takes place one year after the events of last season. Among the new plot threads are an organisation called The Crimson, who are hunting down magic-users, utilising fear and intimidation to sow discord among the races.

Wil – scarred by the loss of Amberle and his separation from Eretria – has turned his back on his magical destiny to become a healer. When a mysterious woman named Mareth saves Wil from a Crimson attack, he is forced to rejoin the fight.

The trailer for the new season (which certainly holds some alluring content) can be viewed below:

Season 1 of The Shannara Chronicles, while not being anything special, was still rather enjoyable in its own way. It’s the cast who really make the journey worthwhile for me and I’m definitely game to see what Season 2 can bring. Here’s hoping that Amberle isn’t really gone forever.
