The LEGO Ideas: Women of NASA 21312 set has been released
LEGO has now released the LEGO Ideas Women of NASA 21312 set with an RRP of £19.99.
At £19.99 the latest LEGO Ideas set is more than an affordable purchase, it’s also an inspirational set for young women wishing to pursue a career in the STEM fields. It would also make an excellent Christmas stocking filler for children and adults with an interest in space exploration.
This 231 piece set celebrates the groundbreaking work accomplished by the female astronauts, scientists and engineers of NASA with three mini builds and four minifigures. The first of which recreates the now classic picture of Margaret Hamilton standing in front of the source code for the Apollo Guidance Computer at MIT in 1969.
The second build focuses on Nancy Grace Roman’s input and planning for the Hubble Space Telescope project. This build features a small Hubble Space Telescope and an image of a planetary nebula.
Finally the third build highlights the efforts of entrepreneur Sally Ride and astronaut, physician and engineer Mae Jemison with a buildable Space Shuttle Challenger.
The set is rounded out with an information booklet which highlights the work of the featured women of NASA and interviews with the fan creator and LEGO designers of the set.
Even if the set doesn’t grip you for it’s educational (and inspirational) purpose it still comes with an excellent Challenger mini build and new minifigure elements, most notably the flight suits and Hamilton’s outfit.
