Will Arnett is reprising his role as the brick version of Batman, for the LEGO Movie’s spinoff film – The LEGO Batman Movie which is due to hit cinemas on February 10th 2017. Five images have been released ahead of the film’s trailer, due tomorrow, which promisies an in-depth look at the caped crusaders super LEGO Lair.

The spinoff movie is focused on Batman’s world upending when Dick Grayson (Robin) and Barbara Gordon (Batgirl) enter his life. Chris Mckay, the Director, says “Batman is an island onto himself, the only thing he doesn’t have is relationships,” leading us to beleive we will be seeing Will Arnett’s Batman softening his thick kevlar shell to let others into his life throughout the film. You never know he might even make a friend!

The movie has a great voice cast and I can’t wait to see these characters brought to life:

  • Will Arnett as Batman
  • Ralph Fiennes as Alfred
  • Michael Cera as Robin
  • Rosario Dawson as Batgirl
  • Zach Galifianakis as The Joker
  • Mariah Carey as Gotham’s Mayor

Personally I’m curious to see Zach Galifianakis portrayal of The Joker, hopefully he can nail the insanity of the Joker but balance it with the child-friendly humour of the movie. It’s also interesting to see Mariah Carey playing Gotham’s Mayor, a typically male role in comic books and other media.

Enjoy the rest of the first look images below. Pay attention to the 3rd image down as it is of the Batcave where you can see multiple batsuits on display, if you look really closely at bottom center you can see a sign labeled “Glam Bat” –  one can only wonder.
