After the long years of waiting, Stephen King’s fantasy novel The Dark Tower is almost here, and today we can finally get a first look at it in the first full trailer.

After the first official images have been released, there has not been much new information on the movie until quite recently, when we got a teaser poster, so it’s reassuring to see that it is almost done and that August is very soon.

This trailer shows us Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor) and the Gunslinger (Idris Elba) talking about Jake’s visions, as well as about the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey) to a psychologist who reassures them they are but dreams. We all know better, of course, and we see Jake find himself in Mid-World, a mysterious dimension that will play a huge part in saving the man kind. Idris Elba’s last line “I do not kill with my gun, I kill with my heart” is chilling. We can only hope the movie turns out for the best.

The official plot synopsis of the film reads:

The Gunslinger, Roland Deschain, roams an Old West-like landscape where “the world has moved on” in pursuit of the man in black. Also searching for the fabled Dark Tower, in the hopes that reaching it will preserve his dying world.

The Dark Tower is due to git the theaters August 4th.
