Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer has finally arrived

After months of anticipation, Lucasfilm has finally launched an official trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The trailer debuted this evening during halftime of ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears. It’s no surprise or coincidence that the trailer debuted on ESPN, given that Disney is the parent company of the sports network as well as Lucasfilm (and ESPN could likely use a ratings boost following recent controversy, but that’s really beside the point).

Following the trailer launch, tickets to the highly anticipated cinematic event went on sale everywhere.

We’ll forgo describing the contents of the trailer for now and let you watch it for yourself below. The synopsis for the film reads as follows:

In Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the galactic legends in an epic adventure that unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past.

The film stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern and Benicio Del Toro.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman. J.J. Abrams, Tom Karnowski and Jason McGatlin serve as executive producers.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in UK cinemas on December 14th and US cinemas on the 15th.
