Spacehulk: Deathwing – First look at gameplay and mechanics in new trailer
In the latest trailer for the upcoming Spacehulk: Deathwing game, we are shown a lot of gameplay and find out some of the finer details of the game.
We actually get to see in-game footage of the current work in progress, which is a pleasant surprise compared to rendered trailers. As a Warhammer 40k fan, I must say the visuals look on point, it’s very dark, grimy and derelict (as it should be for an infested spaceship). The Deathwing terminators themselves have a solid weight and sense of power in their character models, they also have access to an impressive armoury of weapons that will be instantly recognizable to any 40K fans.
We don’t get to see the normal Genestealers (enemies) in great deal in this video, but we do get to see them attacking in swarms and packs, which is the only way Genestealers should operate. We were also introduced to hybrid Genestealers and the fearsome Brood Lord.
One of the gameplay mechanics shown in the trailer, that I really like is the localized damage system. As such, if the armour on your right arm is heavily damaged then you won’t be able to operate the weapon your holding in your right hand and vice versa. Its a small touch, but it adds a certain level of realism to the game.
Visually the trailer gives the game a lot of promise, it’s very true in design and ethos to the Warhammer 40k universe and that makes us excited to see it come to fruition.
