Sony announces a slick “Glacier White” colour variation for the standard PlayStation 4
Sony Interactive Entertainment have today announced that it will introduce the first colour variation for the slimmer and lighter standard PS4 (CUH-2000) in “Glacier White,” which will be available in Europe, Japan and Asia, with regional launches starting later this month.
White is a bold choice for a console, while it’ll look slick brand new I’m not sure how long it would look good in a family home. My PS4 currently sits under the TV on a shelf and collects dust at an incredible rate, it also has to contend with my son’s sticky fingers constantly trying to turn it on or eject a disc because he’s a nuisance toddler. While black does a stand up job of hiding some of that filth, I imagine that the white variation would look hideous in no time at all.
Perhaps this is beginning of a trend in colour variations for Sony and their PlayStation 4 console, I fondly recall the many many variations that were available for the Xbox 360 over it’s lifetime. I’d be tempted to buy a new colour variation should it be packaged with decent games and at a solid price.
In Europe, the Glacier White PS4 will be available on January 24 with a 500GB HDD (€299, £259). In Japan, the new colour will be available on February 23 with a 500GB HDD (¥29,980) or 1TB HDD (¥34,980).
