New Assassin’s Creed trailer from 20th Century Fox
With just two months left before Assassin’s Creed hits in theaters, 20th Century Fox has released the second official trailer for the highly anticipated film. Adapted from the video game franchise of the same name, the film stars and is produced by Michael Fassbender who will portray two different characters: Death Row inmate Callum Lynch and his ancestor Aguilar de Nerha. Like the games, the film revolves around a weapon called the Animus, a machine which unlocks genetic memory to allow the user to access the memories of their ancestors. The Animus is a weapon used in a rivalry between two ancient secret societies, the Assassins and the Knights Templar, who seek to possess powerful hidden artefacts.
The official synopsis from 20th Century Fox is as follows: Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.

Assassin’s Creed reunites Academy Award nominee Michael Fassbender (X-Men: Apocalypse, 12 Years a Slave), with Macbeth director Justin Kurzel and co-star Academy Award® winner Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises, La Vie en Rose). The cast include; Jeremy Irons (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Brendan Gleeson (Calvary), Khalid Abdalla (The Kite Runner), Michael K. Williams (Ghostbusters) and Ariane Labed (The Lobster). The film is directed by Justin Kurzel (Snowtown, Macbeth).
Assassin’s Creed will debut in U.S. theatres on December 21st and the UK in January.
