Netflix and Showcase renew Travelers for a second season

Both Netflix and Canada’s Showcase have picked up Travelers for a second season. Production on Season 2 will begin in March in Vancouver, with the season set to air some time in 2017.

This time around, Erin McCormack’s schedule had to be managed to allow for him to work on both Travelers Season 2 and on a new 10-episode instalment of NBC’s Will & Grace, for which he is primarily known. Creator Brad Wright is set to return, as are the main cast, including MacKenzie Porter, Nesta Cooper, Jared Abrahamson, Reilly Dolman and Patrick Gilmore.

Season 2 will continue where Season 1 left off, with the group realising that their missions might have altered the future in unpredicted ways. Anyone who’s watched the show will know that it’s one hell of a low-key yet thoroughly endearing ride, brimming full of a cast that holds heaps of talent and charm. Where Season 1 excelled primarily on performances and characters, I would personally like to see the plot itself reach greater heights in Season 2.

Hopefully the way that Season 1 ended will allow for grander and more in depth time travel narratives in the second season. I believe in playing to ones strengths though, so as long as this amazing cast sticks around then I’ll be along for the ride. And we might even cover Season 2 here at The Nerd Recites, when it swings around. You’ll have to check back nearer the time to see.
