Neca releases an exclusive “Kenner” tribute Ripley figure for Alien Day
As part of the Alien Day Celebrations NECA have released all of the details for their exclusive Kenner tribute Ripley action figure. The action figure description can be found below:
Celebrate Alien Day 2016 with a special edition tribute to the classic Kenner Ripley figure from the early ’90s! Lt. Ellen Ripley comes with bandolier and smartgun accessories, plus a commemorative reprint of the Dark Horse mini-comic that was included with the original release in 1993. The 7-inch scale figure features the likeness of Sigourney Weaver, and has over 25 points of articulation. The blister card packaging is an homage to the classic as well, and features a collectible file card with bio.
What I love most about this tribute figure, is that it’s just that, a tribute and not a reproduction. Kenner had a great look and feel and were certainly on point with packaging action figure with comics. However it’s been 23 years since the original figure was released and the techniques and skills of modern toy makers, such as NECA, are vastly superior to what they were back in the early nineties.
And for those collectors who are happy to break their action figures out of their packaging, this Kenner tribute Ripley is on the same scale and aesthetics of recent Alien/Aliens releases from NECA – perfect for diorama work.
This tribute figure will be available in Toys R Us and Hastings stores in the US from the 24th of April and a limited number will be available through the Toys R Us website beginning April 26th.
Alien day will also see the release more collectible action figures from NECA such as newt and a deluxe creatures pack, a 30th anniversary edition Aliens graphic novel from Dark Horse, limited-edtion art prints and posters from Mondo, new novels (Alien: Invasion and Alien: Out of the Shadows, the latter of which is an audible book read by Rutger Hauer, among others) and an Ultimate Trivia Challenge across social media.
Enjoy the whole host of images below, while we try and locate one of these in the UK.
