20th Century Fox have begun to ramp up the marketing for Ridley Scott’s Morgan as it quickly approaches it’s September 2nd release date and to that end we’re starting to see past the veil of mystery that has shrouded the details of Morgan‘s plot in the past. In this latest featurette we’re shown a series of fundamental milestones for synSECT Systems most promising DNA experiment. The experiment itself being a bioengineered girl, known as Morgan, but we knew that already.

The featurette is from the perspective of Dr Cheng (Michelle Yeoh) who is presumably the lead scientist on the Morgan project. Dr Cheng is shown on a computer pulling up multiple videos, images and notes of past milestones and achievements from the Morgan project.

A project which was bound to fail, and fail dramatically it does, as we see Cheng document the increasing violence and ultimately malevolence that Morgan, the test subject, has begun to display.

It’s fair to say that when you treat someone as a non-human, a thing, an experiment, you force them to lose their humanity, their empathy, their compassion and as you can see in the featurette this inevitably paved the way for Morgan to become an increasingly unstable and dangerous entity.

Besides being an excellent introduction to who Morgan is and how she came about, this featurette is super dense with clues and information about the film. Take a moment to pause the video and really look at all of the information available to us in the featurette, the searches, the file names, the background data and so on.

However, not all of the information is useful as it could be, all of the text documents shown in the trailer are just filled with Lorem Ipsum, while a tad disappointing, it doesn’t detract from the wealth of detail available to us nor does it makes us any less excited to see this film next month.
