Logan official trailer #1 has arrived

20th Century FOX have launched the first official trailer for the upcoming Logan film, the third installment of the Wolverine franchise and they final portrayal of the character by Hugh Jackman. The film will be the first within the X-Men feature franchise to receive an R rating and the new footage is aptly set to Johnny Cash’s “Hurt” and appears to be a major departure from the previous Wolverine films, having an entirely new tone and feel. While the trailer only eludes to the plot details, it does tease a number of both dramatic and action packed sequences and looks to be the Wolverine film that fans have been longing for.

Loosely based on the comic book series Old Man Logan by Mark Millar, the synopsis is as follows: Set in the future of 2024, Logan and Professor Charles Xavier must cope with the loss of the X-Men when a corporation lead by Nathaniel Essex is destroying the world leaving it to destruction, with Logan’s healing abilities slowly fading away and Xavier’s Alzheimer’s forcing him to forget. Logan must defeat Nathaniel Essex with the help of a young girl named Laura Kinney, a female clone of Wolverine.

Logan is directed by James Mangold from a screenplay by Michael Green and Scott Frank and James Mangold (based on a story by David James Kelly and Mangold), and is produced by Simon Kinberg, Hutch Parker, and Lauren Shuler Donner. The film’s cast includes Hugh Jackman in his final appearance as Logan/Wolverine, Patrick Stewart reprising his role as Professor X, Sienna Novikov as Laura, Richard E. Grant as Zander Rice, Boyd Holbrook as Donald Price, and Stephen Merchant as Caliban, among others.

Logan is released in cinemas on March 3, 2017.
