The past week has been relatively quiet for television related news, and we’ve already shared the official trailer and new images for season 7 of Game of Thrones

We have the following updates:

New cast images for Game of Thrones, behind the scenes video’s from Stephen King’s The Mist, The Strain season 4 promo, Preacher behind the scenes video and character portraits, a final trailer for Orphan BlackCastlevania series teaser trailer, and UFO drama Blue Book coming to History channel.

Game of Thrones new cast images reunite the Stark family

EW have released several new images from season 7 of HBO’s Game of Thrones, reuniting the remaining members of the Stark family. The season 7 cast includes Lena Headey, Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Gwendoline Christie, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Peter Dinklage, Ellie Kendrick, Conleth Hill, John Bradley, Kristofer Hivju, Rory McCann, Hannah Murray, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Aiden Gillen, Liam Cunningham, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Bella Ramsey.

Following season 7, the series based on the popular book series from George R.R. Martin will conclude with an 8th season consisting of six episodes.

Game of Thrones season 7 premieres July 16th on HBO.

New behind the scenes featurettes from Spike networks The Mist

Spike network have released a couple of new featurettes from it’s upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s The Mist. The footage in the first clip explores the small town and eccentric characters, while the second discusses the influences of Stephen King. Adapted from his novella of the same name, The Mist has been reimagined for the small screen. The series will consist of 10 episodes and is slated to debut this summer. Christian Torpe serves as creator, executive producer, and showrunner for the series, which stars Morgan Spector (Boardwalk Empire), Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings), Gus Birney, Danica Curcic (Nobel), Okezie Morro (World War Z), Luke Cosgrove (Shiver), Darren Pettie (Mad Men), Russell Posner (The D Train), Dan Butler (Frasier), Isiah Washington, Jr. (The Wire) and Frances Conroy (American Horror Story). The official synopsis reads as follows:

When the residents of Bridgeville, Maine find themselves engulfed by a foreboding mist containing a myriad of inexplicable and bizarre threats, their humanity is put to the test in The Mist.

The Mist centers around a small town family that is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world, and in some cases, each other. Family, friends and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of society break down.

The Mist premieres on June 22nd on Spike.


The Strain season 4 promo

FX have released a new promo for the 4th and final season of The Strain which is slated to air this summer. Adapted from the best-selling The Strain Trilogy by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan who both serve as executive producers, the series hails from showrunner, executive producer and writer Carlton Cuse (LOST, Bates Motel). The ensemble cast stars Corey Stoll, David Bradley, Jonathan Hyde, Kevin Durand, Ruta Gedmintas, Miguel Gomez, Richard Sammel, Max Charles and Rupert Penry-Jones. Season 4 synopsis:

As the fourth and final season begins, nine months have passed. The world has fallen into darkness, and the strigoi are in control. The explosion at the end of season three triggered a global nuclear apocalypse. The resulting nuclear winter liberated the strigoi, allowing them to move about during daytime, and allowing the Master to establish a totalitarian regime. Preying on the fears of the populace, the Master and his minions have created an unsettling alliance in “The Partnership.” The majority of humans are now working for the strigoi, operating with a single understanding — collaborate or die. With the world in disarray and our heroes disbanded, each of them will have to overcome personal hardship and defy death for even the smallest chance at fighting back… All the while, the Master reigns supreme, furthering his scheme for the end of the world as we know it. In the face of annihilation…do our heroes have what it takes to save humankind?

The Strain will air on Sunday, July 16th on FX.

Season 2 of AMC’s Preacher is set to air this summer and the network have released a new behind the scenes video and several images. The series stars Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga, Joseph Gilgun, Ian Coletti, and Graham McTavish. New additions include Noah Taylor (Peaky Blinders, Game of Thrones), Pip Torrens (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, My Week with Marilyn), Julie Ann Emery (Better Call Saul, Fargo), Malcolm Barrett (Dear White People), Justin Prentice (13 Reasons Why, Awkward) and Ronald Guttman (Mozart in the Jungle, Mad Men). From the season 2 press release:

The expanded second season, consisting of 13 episodes, is a genre-bending thrill ride that follows West Texas preacher Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Academy Award nominee Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) as they embark on a road trip to find God and are thrust into a twisted battle spanning Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.

Preacher returns to AMC on Sunday, June 25th.


Orphan Black final trailer revealed

Ahead of it’s final season next month, BBC have released a final trailer for Orphan Black. The series returns to BBC America for its final season and stars Emmy winner Tatiana Maslany as multiple clones. Additional cast includes Ari Millen, Jordan Gavaris, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Skyler Wexler, Kevin Hanchard, Evelyne Brochu, Kristian Bruun and Josh Vokey. The season 5 plot synopsis:

The clone sisterhood has been through it all together. From assassinations, detrimental illnesses, monitors and accidental murders to suburban drug fronts, kidnappings, male clones and biological warfare – there isn’t anything this lot hasn’t experienced. But through it all, they’ve remained united in their love and mission to keep each other safe at all costs. They’ve sacrificed their families, the loves of their lives, and any true sense of normalcy, all for the chance to liberate themselves from forces much bigger than any one of them. This season, they must all fight for the family they’ve chosen, for a new future and ultimately, for freedom.

The 5th and final season is set to premiere on June 10th.


Castlevania series teaser trailer from Netflix

Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for their upcoming Castlevania series, coming this summer. Based of the videogame series of the same name, the new animated series has the following synopsis:

Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself. The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow! Unlimited Media company, written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar.

Castlevania will hit Netflix on July 7th.


History channel orders UFO drama ‘Blue Book’ from Robert Zemeckis


History channel has given a 10-episode straight-to-series order to the original scripted drama Blue Book from A+E Studios. The series executive produced by Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Back to the Future, Contact) and is inspired by true events. It chronicles the true top secret investigation of UFO related phenomena in the United States during the 50’s and 60’s know as “Project Blue Book”. Zemeckis, Jack Rapke (Cast Away, Flight) and Jackie Levine (Allied, The Walk) all serve as executive producers, while David O’Leary serves as creator and writer.

The series follows Dr. J. Allen Hynek, a brilliant college professor recruited by the U.S. Air Force to spearhead this clandestine operation that researched thousands of cases, many of which were never solved. Each episode will draw from the actual files, blending UFO theories with authentic historical events from one of the most mysterious eras in United States history.

“Blue Book is inspired by the true covert events of an era in American history shrouded in mystery,” said Buccieri. “Robert Zemeckis and the creative team have shaped an incredibly compelling narrative, building upon History’s unique, growing brand of fact-based scripted programming.”

“Rarely have I been associated with a project that is a perfect fusion of historical fact and extraordinary entertainment,” said Zemeckis. “We are grateful for A+E Studios’ and History’s support for what I know will be a fabulous series.”

No further details have been revealed at this time, however we’ll keep readers up to date.
