Injustice 2: The long awaited sequel to DC’s Injustice game has been announced with a new trailer and early gameplay features
It has finally happened, Injustice 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the hit game Injustice: Gods Among Us has now been revealed. Developed by the award-winning team at NetherRealm Studios, the game is expected to feature a huge range of heroes and villains from DC’s rich collection of world famous characters. The official trailer can be viewed below.
Continuing on from the cinematic storyline from Injustice: Gods Among Us, players will see Batman and his allies working towards the rebuilding of society while battling any and all remaining supporters of Superman’s cruel regime. From the biggest roster of DC characters ever to feature in a fighting game, players can play the classic favourites, such as Batman, Superman, and Aquaman, and Supergirl. Of course, with new playable heroes, comes new playable villains; for the first time characters such as Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd shall be available to battle, and obliterate their foes. Naturally, a larger cast would require a larger world to battle across, so get ready to travel between a myriad of DC’s most memorable locations, scaled up for your enjoyment – Metropolis, Gotham City, and Atlantis.
The upcoming sequel will introduce a whole range of brand new features that, Creative Director at NetherRealm Studios – Ed Boon, says “will change the way fans play fighting games”. Listing the expansion of the DC Universe in games is listed as a top priority, and the hope is that Injustice 2‘s original story will help bring the iconic characters to life.
Fans will be granted the ability to customise and battle with DC’s greatest heroes and villains in an entirely new way, using ‘unique and powerful gear’ that players can earn throughout gameplay. Character customisation won’t be limited to just the main campaign, Injustice 2 will allow gamers to use their characters across a wide variety of game modes.
Lastly, to celebrate the announcement of Injustice 2, any fan that has downloaded the mobile game of Injustice: Gods Among Us are now able to unlock the Injustice 2 versions of Superman and Aquaman, done via the in-game Challenge Modes.
Injustice 2 will be available for the PS4 and XBox One in 2017.
