Independence Day: Resurgence – New ‘War’ featurette, ‘Destruction’ poster and high quality film stills released

The latest featurette from Independence Day: Resurgence, titled War, sees Jeff Goldblum (Director David Levinson) and Liam Hemsworth (Lieutenant Jake Morrison) describing the true extent of what is to come as the aliens return after twenty years of plotting.

A reccuring theme throughout the marketing materials for Independence Day: Resurgence is that it’s not just earth and it’s inhabitants who’ve had twenty years to prepare for the inevitable war with the aliens, the aliens themselves have also had twenty years to vastly improve their technology, strategies and martial prowess. All of this is reminded and reinforced in the newest featurette from 20th Century Fox which you can watch for yourself below.

There have also been ten new film stills released alongside a widescreen ratio poster. The newest poster, aptly titled ‘Destruction’, sees the early stages of London’s demise. However I’m highly doubtful that the alien ship has only managed to pull just one London Bus into it’s gravity – as anyone who’s ever been to London can tell you, they are everywhere! You can find all of the new film stills below for you to enjoy.

The above still is particulary reminiscent of the original film when Will Smith and Bill Pullman’s characters are observing Brent Spiner’s character dissecting one of the original invading aliens.

For us this still is new, I’ve not personally seen it yet but I must say it reminds me a lot of the original Stargate film when Daniel Jackson is deciphering the Egyptian/Gou’ald heiroglyphics. I really do hope it has a similar feel of discovering and advancement in the face of a vastly superior forces that Stargate and SG-1 had.
