Hi-C Ecto Coolers are coming back to coincide with the release of the new Ghostbusters film

Coca-Cola are bringing back the nostalgia packed Hi-C Ecto Coolers this summer to coincide with the release of Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot.

The citrus juice drink will be available from May 30th in the US, in either 10-packs of juice carton, or 6 and 12 packs of cans. The cans utilize thermal ink which, when exposed to cold temperatures, will turn the cans slime green in colour. While this doesn’t make up for the loss of our favourite animated slimer appearing on the original 80’s packaging it’s definitely a solid nod towards the original branding.

Hi-C Ecto Coolers will be exclusive to the United States, so for those of us overseas we may end up with a similar situation to when Crystal Pepsi was re-released in the states and fans had to purchase from US sellers (at quite the mark up) via ebay.

For some fans of the franchise this will be all they are looking forward to this summer as the community continues to shout down the new reboot before it’s even been released. Nevertheless we are in for a summer of ghost-busting as new games, collectibles, apparel and so on will be hitting stores soon
