Ghostbusters: Activision to release mobile and console games to accompany the film’s release
Activision have announced, not one, but two Ghostbusters coming this summer to accompany the release of the new film. Both games, one for consoles and one mobile, are set in and inspired by the world of the upcoming Ghostbusters film which is due to hit cinemas July 15th.
The games take place after the events of the film and follows a team of recruits who are charged with looking after the the station while the now famous Ghostbusters tour the USA taking on high profile poltergeists, apparations and ghosts. When unusual paranormal activity brings apparations back to New York City this team of rookie recruits will need to band together and battle the rogue spirits back to the afterlife.
The console game, Ghostbusters, is a 3rd-person action RPG game with co-op for up to four players locally. There are four different rookie Ghostbusters you can play as, each bringing their own strenghs, personalities and play styles. You can level up your rookie’s abilites and gear by defeating apparations, defeating objectives and discovering hidden items across the most haunted haunts of Manhattan.

The mobile game, Ghostbusters: Slime City, sees players defend New York City from waves of ghosts and apparations. Players can work together in asynchronous co-op to trap powerful ghosts to move up the leaderboards. Players can complete jobs around the city for new weapons and rewards, players will also be able to build their own proton packs using components found throughout the game.
Ghostbusters: Slime City is due for release on iOS and Android in July.
Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited return, rebooted with a cast of hilarious new characters. Thirty years after the beloved original franchise took the world by storm, director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today – Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth. This summer, they’re here to save the world! The film is produced by Ivan Reitman and Amy Pascal, and written by Katie Dippold & Paul Feig, based on the film Ghostbusters, written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis and directed by Ivan Reitman. The film will be released in cinemas nationwide on the 15th July, 2016.
