Game of Thrones Newest Episode Leaked By The Least Expected

Game of Thrones‘ newest episode, “The door”, is to premiere tonight, but the episode was leaked and is now up on many pirating and torrent sites. The episode was up 24 hours before the premier and was said to be up for several hours which was obviously enough time for someone to copy it and put it up.

While it was reddit user, Ozires, who spread the word around, it was none other than HBO themselves who leaked the episode. It had been accidentally put up on HBO Nordic’s website, HBO’s European site for Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland.

The whole situation is ironic seeing as how furiously HBO is trying to abolish piracy. They even stopped releasing early copies for review, giving up the promos for not wanting any spoilers to leak before the episodes air. It is not surprising though as Game of Thrones is the world’s most pirated show, beating other shows such as the The Walking Dead and The Big Bang Theory. Game of Thrones Season 5 finale has been downloaded 14.4 million times via torrents.

HBO has tried making compromises such as offering viewers in 170 countries simultaneous premieres for Game of Thrones, and coming up with HBO Now for those without cable. They are also going as far as to publicly and privately warn alleged pirates, and are requesting torrent sites to take Game of Thrones down, as TorrentFreak covers.

It must be quite embarrassing to take all of these precautions to make sure there are no leaks of Season 6, only to be the very ones to put an entire episode out there early. Even so, if you wish to support HBO and watch the newest episode of Game of Thrones tune in tonight at 9!
