In what was a complete surprise, Marvel Studios and Disney have just dropped the very first teaser trailer for Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok.

In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!

I’m not normally one for hype, but everything about this trailer has me giddy for Thor: Ragnarok, the pace, the setting, the humour, the character design and even the soundtrack are all perfect. Go ahead and watch yourself below, you won’t regret it, I can promise you that.

Without a doubt the most hype inducing part of this trailer is when we finally get our first look at Gladiator Hulk. As a long time Hulk fan I’m happy to see elements of the Planet Hulk storyline make it’s way into the MCU.

Whether the actual film can keep up with the pace of the trailer is a different thing and I’ll guess we’ll have to wait till October to find but given Taika Waititi’s penchant for quirky humour and superb storytelling, I’m confident we’ll be in for a treat regardless.

“Thor: Ragnarok” is directed by Taika Waititi and returns Chris Hemsworth starring as Thor and Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki. They are joined by Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson and Karl Urban, with Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins.

Marvel have also released a new Thor: Ragnarok poster to tie in with the trailer.

Thor: Ragnarok is in UK Cinemas this October.
