Robbie Amell (who has been undertaking a variety of side projects lately, including the Netflix film Arq and his own Kickstarter project with Stephen Amell for Code 8) has been confirmed to return in an upcoming episode within the back half of The Flash Season 3.

Robbie has already played Earth 1 Firestorm and Earth 2 Deathstorm on the show. Whether he’ll be returning as another Earth’s incarnation of either of these roles, or in a new incarnation of Ronnie Reymond, is unclear at this stage.

Also confirmed to return at some point is Black Flash. Teddy Sears’ Zoom was turned into Black Flash at the end of Season 2 and although Teddy might not be returning for the role (he is busy with 24: Legacy), Andrew Kreisberg has stated that he has plenty of ideas for the character:

“He’s a classic character. We have storylines on multiple shows that fit having him around. There’s something so scary about him, something even scarier than when he was just the man, because now it’s now he is the Grim Reaper, he is the devil. How do you stop the devil? So it presents an interesting challenge for the heroes of the respective shows in which he appears.”

The Black Flash and his captioned prophecy concerning the death of a speedster whenever he appears.

The Black Flash is a harbinger of death who is fast enough to keep up with speedsters. In the comics Barry Allen became the Black Flash for a short time after the original was found dead. The mantle was later picked up by other characters such as Eobard Thawne (who is currently a member of the Legion of Doom on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow).

The Flash returns on January 24th and will be continue to be reviewed on a weekly basis by us.
