You can now play PS3 games on your PC as Sony launches it’s PlayStation Now app for Windows

Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe today announced that their new gaming service, PlayStation Now, has been released for Windows PC users. PS Now is the company’s new pioneering gaming service that utilises cloud-based technology to essentially stream the game to your PC. PS Now and chill anyone?

The new platform brings a wide selection of PlayStation exclusive titles to PC gamers for the very first time, alongside old favourites and classics of PlayStation days gone by from other third party developers. The service will put epic adventures, iconic characters from gaming history and mesmerising PlayStation 3 games at your fingertips, allowing you to immerse yourself into the games immediately.

PC gamers can go download the PS Now Windows app from http://www.playstationnow.com and browse the current games that are on offer before registering or logging into their Sony Entertainment Network account.

As of writing this article, PS now currently features over 300 games from days gone by, covering a wide range of genres for all types of gamers. The library is filled with games from Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios and the industry’s best software developers and publishers.

Current titles include:

  • Batman(TM): Arkham Asylum (Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment),
  • Beyond: Two Souls (SIE WWS),
  • Bioshock Infinite (2K Games, Inc),
  • Borderlands (2K Games, Inc),
  • Crazy Taxi (Sega),
  • Flower (SIE WWS),
  • Heavy Rain (SIE WWS),

PS Now works on a subscription basis, available for EUR16.99/GBP12.99 per month. There is however a free trail option available for those of you that wish to try the service before committing to a subscription.

As this is a streaming service, there are recommended PC requirements for using PS Now. Sony recommend a steady broadband connection over 5Mbps, with a 12Mbps connection and above providing you the best experience possible. In addition to this, the recommended hardware requirements are as follows:

  • Windows 7 (SP 1), 8.1 or 10
  • 3.5 GHz Intel Core i3 or 3.8 GHz AMD A10 or faster
  • 300 MB or more of available storage
  • 2 GB or more of RAM
  • Sound card
  • USB port (for gamepad)
