The CW have released the first official image of Tyler Hoechlin in the Superman suit. This image (seen below) show Kal standing next to Kara, with them being wearing the House of El garb.

This arrives three months ahead of the Supergirl‘s second season, which is set to air on October 10th 2016.

The suit depicted is dark and ignores the external red pants (which is a good thing). It also features a unique-looking belt, as well as gold sections that attach Kal’s cape to his suit. It’s different enough to Henry Cavill’s suit, which still remaining in firmly within the dark and sleek bracket.

If you compare Kal’s boots in the image to Kara’s, hers are clearly material, while Kal’s boots look armoured. This is of course an odd choice for an invulnerable man of steel, so either we are assuming too much about a simple House of El design choice, or Kal has specifically chosen to project the illusion that he needs protection such as this. If this is the case, then this could say a lot about the mindset of Hoechlin’s Superman.

This is also the first time that we have seen Hoechlin fully clean shaven, due to his penchant to bear stubble in most TV shows and photographs. Being fan of Teen Wolf, all we really see when we look at the above picture is Derek standing next to Supergirl, so we hope that when the show arrives, Hoechlin’s performance is strong enough to pull us away from this preconception.
