Rogue One: A Star Wars Story final trailer has arrived
Disney and Lucasfilm have unleashed the final trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, due out at the end of this year. The film will be be the first in the franchise to focus on normal people, giving us a drastically different view of the universe than we’ve seen with previous installments. Set slightly before the events of 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope, the film will explain how Princess Leia came to be in possession of the Death Star plans, thus enabling the heroes to cause its destruction. The new footage shows glimpses of Jyn Erso’s past, explores the origins of the Rogue call sign and features some intense looking battle scenes. The studio also unveiled the official theatrical poster for the film, which showcases off the main cast of characters set against the Imperial forces on the planet Scarif.
From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in UK Cinemas on December 15, 2016 and US Cinemas on December 16th.
