Nine new Pokémon revealed for Pokémon Sun and Moon

Here at The Nerd Recites, we’re always excited when a new Pokémon is unleashed upon the world, so imagine our faces when we get not one, not two, but nine new Pokémon! These Pokémon, set to debut in the upcoming games: Pokémon Sun & Moon will surely cause a stir in the Pokémon fan community.

So, let’s take a look at these new Pokémon, shall we?

Rockruff – Rock Pokémon

Rockruff has an excellent sense of smell, and once it has smelled an odour, it doesn’t forget it. There are tales of these Pokémon getting separated from their Trainers, then using the faintest traces of their scent to track them for days until they are reunited. Make no mistake, this cute little critter is in fact rather hardy; No matter how much damage is inflicted upon it, Rockruff will not stay down until it has beaten its foe.

  • Category: Puppy Pokémon
  • Height: 1’ 64″
  • Weight: 20.2 lbs.
  • Ability: Keen Eye / Vital Spirit

 

Komala – Normal Pokémon

No one has ever seen a Komala awake. It eats, travels and even battles while sound asleep. According to ancient people, its saliva can be used as medicine for the sick or sleepless. Komala’s ability – Comatose keeps it perpetually in a drowsing state, preventing it from getting any other status conditions. Komala clings to a log pillow gifted to it by its parents. Once it takes hold of this log, Komala will almost never release it from its grasp. If, however, it does lose the log, it will be unable to sleep soundly and will thrash until the log is returned.

  • Ability: Comatose

 

Drampa – Normal / Dragon Pokémon

Drampa

Drampa are dragons that live alone in the mountains 10,000 feet above sea level. Drampa are gentle with children, and are often seen near schools and parks, and while kindly, this Pokémon will fly into a rage if a child it cares for is harmed in any way. Drampa’s Berserk Ability, will increase its Special Attack stat by one whenever its HP drops below half.

  • Weight: 407.9 lbs
  • Known Moves: Dragon Breath

 

Bruxish – Water / Psychic Pokémon

Bruzish

Bruxish emits a strong psychic power from the protuberance on its head while grinding its teeth loudly. Whenever an opponent is struck by this power, they will be inflicted with terrible headaches and will eventually fall unconscious. Some Bruxish have a new ability known as ‘Dazzling’, which prevents opponents from using priority moves that normally strike first.

  • Classification: Gnash Teeth Pokémon
  • Height: 2′ 11″
  • Weight: 41.9lbs
  • Known Moves: Psywave

 

Togedemaru – Electric / Steel Pokémon

Togewhatever

Togedemaru is the Roly-Poly Pokémon which gathers electricity and stores it. The long needle that grows from the back of its head works as a lightning rod to attract electricity. On stormy days and nights, you can sometimes witness Togedemaru gather together and bristle their needles, just waiting to be struck by lightning.

  • Classification: Roly-poly Pokémon
  • Height: 1′ 00″
  • Weight: 7.3lbs
  • Known Moves: Ember

 

Charjabug & Vikavolt – Bug / Electric Pokémon

Charjabug

Charjabug is the first Evolution of Grubbin, a new Alola region Pokémon revealed last month. Charjabug will stay completely still, simply waiting for evolution to occur. It will often spend its time with its body half-buried in the ground. Charjabug’s Battery Ability allows it to raise the power of allies’ special moves.

  • Classification: Battery Pokémon
  • Height: 1′ 08″
  • Weight: 23.1 lbs.
  • Known Moves: Ember

Vikavolt, the Evolution of Charjabug, is like a fortress that zooms through the forest, using its huge jaws to control a beam of electricity which it can fire from its mouth.

  • Classification: Stag Beetle Pokémon
  • Height: 4′ 11″
  • Weight: 99.2lbs
  • Known Moves: Ember

 

Cutiefly – Bug / Fairy Pokémon

Cutiefly

Cutiefly can detect the auras of living things, including people, Pokémon and plants. They seek out flowers by the colour and brightness of their auras, and then they gather the nectar and pollen. Cutiefly are mostly seen living in the fields and meadows on the outskirts of cities, though they will occasionally appear within towns, even buildings, attracted by the emotions of living beings.

  • Classification: Bee Fly Pokémon
  • Height: 0′ 04″
  • Weight: 0.4lbs
  • Known Moves: Ember

 

Tapu Koko – Electric / Fairy Pokémon

Tapu-Koko

Tapu Koko is the guardian deity of Melemele Island, one of the islands of the Alola region. Tapu Koko is known to store electricity by enclosing itself within the shells on its arms, and it is said that it will also enter this form during other, ‘special’ times… Tapu Koko’s Ability is Electric Surge, an Ability which has never been seen before. The Electric Surge Ability fills the field around the Pokémon’s feet with electricity when it appears, raising the power of any Electric-type moves for Pokémon on the ground and preventing any Pokémon from falling asleep.

  • Classification: Land Spirit Pokémon
  • Height: 5′ 11″
  • Weight: 45.2lbs
  • Ability: Electric Surge
