Netflix finally confirms Stranger Things season 2
Following the success of season one, it won’t come as much of a surprise to anyone that Netflix has officially confirmed renewal of Stranger Things. Season two will take place in fall of 1984, one year after the events of season one. Prior to the announcement, producers The Duffer Brothers discussed the possibility of a second season, and Matt Duffer recently told Variety “…there’s a bigger mythology, and there’s a lot of dangling threads at the end. We could explore it if Netflix wanted to continue.”
The duo have also divulged possible details for the upcoming season, telling EW that most of the cast will return. Furthermore, they revealed that four new characters will be introduced. “There’s going to be a lot of new and interesting dynamics that we didn’t see in season 1.” says Matt Duffer. He went on to reveal that Hawkin’s won’t be the only setting, stating “We will venture a little bit outside of Hawkins. I will say the opening scene [of the premiere] does not take place in Hawkins.”
Additionally, The Upside Down will be explored further. “We obviously have this gate to another dimension, which is still very much open in the town of Hawkins. And a lot of questions there in terms of, if the Monster is dead, was it a singular monster? What else could be out there? We really don’t go in there much until they go in to find Will at the end. So we’ve opened up this doorway, and to us it’s exciting to talk about, like, what else is behind there? There’s a lot more mystery there to be solved.” says Ross.
