It is the 20th anniversary of one of gaming’s most iconic heroines – Lara Croft, and this year Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics are pleased to reveal that Lara will return in a special edition of Rise of the Tomb Raider to celebrate this noteworthy milestone.

The Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration collectors edition will include, not only the award winning game itself, but a brand new story chapter entitled “Blood Ties”, new co-op endurance gameplay, PlayStation VR support for the “Blood Ties”, as well as all of the previously released DLC for the game.

“Blood Ties” is a new premium DLC that invites players to explore Croft Manor in a new storymode; then defend it against a terrifying invasion of the undead in “Lara’s Nightmare”. Lara is forced to explore the estate to find definitive proof that she is in fact the rightful heir to the manor as her uncle decides it is time to contest the manor’s ownership. Once players have completed this additional chapter, they can test their survival skills as they battle a horde of the living dead invading that are invading Croft Manor. All this can also be done in PlayStation’s VR mode if you feel brave enough.

The new co-op endurance mode will allow fans to raid tombs together in a harsh, unforgiving wilderness.  Two players must unite if they ever hope to survive the elements by day, as well as the lurking threats of enemies by night. A fire will require fuel, food will restore, and each resource will need to be hunted, collected, or crafted.

And that, readers, is not all – At the special request of the series’ most hardcore fans, the Rise of the Tomb Raider will become even grittier with the inclusion of a brutal new difficulty setting: “Extreme Survivor”. The new setting is going to take the harshness of “Survivor” and knock it up a few notches which shall include the removal of all checkpoints from the game.

Last but certainly not least is the fact that all of the previously released DLC will be available with the celebratory edition of the game. All of the DLC is here – the three hour story addition Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch, Cold Darkness Awakened, twelve outfits, seven weapons, thirty-five Expedition Cards, and more.
