The Folio Society have just released two new collector’s editions of H.P. Lovecraft’s The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories, both featuring 472 pages and beautifully illustrated by the acclaimed artist Dan Hillier.

Folio’s core edition of The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories is cloth blocked with gold gilt page tops and features a full title spread by Hillier with six black and white illustrations throughout the book. The core edition costs £75.00 and comes with an attractive purple and metallic gold printed slipcase.

The limited edition version of the book is bound in eco simulated leather blocked with a unique design by Hillier. In addition to the full title spread and six black and white illustrations seen in the core edition, the limited edition version features an additional eight Lovecraft inspired black and gold mandalas. This edition also comes with hand-marbled end papers, coloured page edges, a cloth bound presentation box and a limited print signed by the artist, Dan Hillier.

The limited edition version will set you back £345.00 and while the price initially seems steep you’re getting an impressive, high quality tome for your money.

Both editions are prefaced by none other than Alan Moore, author and creator of macabre literary treats such as Watchmen, Lost Girls and Batman: The Killing Joke.

The Folio Society have put together a short video about their new H.P. Lovecraft editions which you can watch for yourself below. The video features beautiful shots of Dan Hillier’s illustrations used for these editions and provides you with some insight into the books themselves.
