Movies and the festive period go hand in hand in my household. We love crowding around the TV as a family, full of turkey and mince pies, to lazily re-watch the Harry Potter films once again, and I’m not really sure why it’s always Harry Potter, but it is and it’s always on one of the channels and yet for the umpteenth time we continue to watch the boy wizard and his antics nevertheless. But I digress, movies and box sets make for some excellent gifts, they’re always watched, cherished and money well spent and if buying a loved one a new Blu-Ray means I don’t have to watch that damned bespectacled nuisance and his ginger friend again, it’s all the better for it.

I’ve put together a list of Blu-Ray new releases and box sets from this year that will make for great gifts for your loved ones. As long as the person you’re buying for is a fan of superhero, science-fiction and animated films, you’ll be onto a winner with these suggestions. Most of the films listed here are easily affordable in the £10 to £30 range, but I have included some outrageous outliers towards the end of this list just because I can.

Disclosure: Some of the items presented in this gift guide were sent to us by brands and publicists to review for the sole purpose of inclusion in our guides. However all of views are our own and we have only included the products that we believe in and would’ve bought for ourselves or loved to receive as gifts. Being sent a review sample was and is in no way a guaranteed entry into our gift guides and suggestions.

All of the items in this gift guide are ordered from cheapest to most expensive and then alphabetized should there be any duplicate prices. All prices listed in the guide are correct at time of publishing, we have shown the current prices for each item from Amazon.  We honestly recommend that you shop around for your gifts as some of the items listed in this guide had substantial discounts on various sites at the time of publication.
